Don Delauter
Don Delauter was born (1933) and raised in Frederick County, Maryland. Graduated Middletown High School 1951, University of Maryland 1955. Commissioned 2d Lieutenant, USAF and entered the service in March 1956. Served 31 plus years in the Air Force, flying jet fighters (F-100, F-4 and F-15) much of that time. Also earned MBA from Ohio State University and Masters in Education from Boston University. Retired from USAF 1987 as brigadier general.
From October 1987 to January 1996, employed by Westinghouse Electronic Systems Group, Linthicum, Maryland. From 1996 to present, lived in Moore County, North Carolina (Whispering Pines, then Southern Pines). Served on Whispering Pines Village council and on Moore County Airport Authority. Was vice president and president of the Sandhills Chapter, Military Officers Association of America. As member of the Moore County Chapter of North Carolina Symphony, wrote reviews of this orchestra’s performances for The Pilot newspaper for four seasons.
For years, Don has been a strong enthusiast of classical music and grand opera, and immensely enjoys reading and writing about, and listening to, this great music.
