Kathleen McGillan, RN, BSN, MSN

Kathleen McGillan grew up in NY, NY and Morristown, NJ. After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) she worked in Washington, DC at The George Washington University Hospital as a Staff Nurse on a post surgical nursing unit and at the DC Health Department as a Public Health Nurse and clinical instructor for nursing students from DC General Hospital. She then worked at The Washington Hospital Center as a Clinical Coordinator (Clinical Supervisor) and in Staff Development. After obtaining a Master’s degree in Nursing, she worked at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD in the Home Care/Hospice Department.
She later worked for the Fairfax County Public Health Dept in the Long Term Care Division, Adult Day Health Care. She represented the Fairfax County Health Department in the creation and implementation of a new program, the Senior Plus Program. This new prize winning service was created in collaboration with Fairfax County’s Dept. of Aging, Department of Recreation and Health Department. She was awarded the Employee of the Year Award from the Fairfax County Health Dept.
She and husband, Jim, moved to Pinehurst, NC in 2005. After being licensed in NC as a Registered Nurse, she became a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) providing medical document interpretation and organization for trial. She continues to be a Patient advocate through research, health teaching and caregiver support.
Kathleen and Jim have two daughters who live and work in New York City.
